Document a Day
A detailed inquiry into your interactions with the world for one day.

My inquiry focus was to detail interactions with dogs. I observed the dog's willingness to interact and response to being touched. Data was gathered by means of contextual inquiry, I introduced myself and what I was hoping to achieve from the interaction with the dogs. Analysis of the data involved reading through the details of the interactions to see whether there was a common response from the dogs or anything unexpected. I found the interactions were a positive experience for the dogs and myself. Dogs are very trusting and I was surprised at how friendly they were and how accommodating the owners were. The results are presented below as short overview of the encounter. It was very difficult photographing the dogs, they don't stay in one place for very long.

Charlie
Shitzu Poodle
2 Years Old

Interaction – Morning Walk 7.30am
Charlie ran towards me so I asked her owner if I could pat her and take a photo for my journal. Charlie was due to go to the dog groomer I was informed by her owner. Charlie's human was very excited that appearing in my journal would now mean she is famous.

Grace
Mini Fox Terrier
8 Years Old
Interaction – Morning Walk 7.30am
Grace walked towards me, so I asked her owner if I could pat her and take a photo for my journal. Grace's owner is hearing impaired, she told me how Grace was an absolute gem and had been rescued from a Domestic Violence situation by the RSPCA. I've been bitten by a dog before so knowing her history I decided maybe best not to pat Grace.

Rosie
Mini Daschund
4 Years Old
Interaction – Morning Walk 7.30am
Rosie bounced over to me, so I asked her owner if I could pat her and take a photo for my journal. Rosie was very friendly and jumped into my lap when I was sitting to take her photo. Rosie's human was super excited telling her she was going to be famous.

Bella
Mini Schnauzer
2 Years Old
Interaction – At the Park 10am
Bella ran to me, her human is a good friend. I asked if I could take her photo for my journal. She is very friendly and obedient so I gave her a good pat. I commented on how amazing her coat looks, she'd been to the groomer that week. Bella is Miss March for the Schnauzer Breeder's Calendar, so she was already a bit famous. None the less my friend was excited about her appearing in my journal.

Basil
Mini Daschund
7 Years Old
Interaction – At Grandparents Home 5pm
Basil greeted us at the door. He and his brother are very handsome and well behaved dogs. They go everywhere with my father in-law and are regular visitors to the Aged Care Home. Basil is so well behaved he is met by the nurses who take hime around the nursing home to interact with all the residents.

Watson
Mini Daschund
7 Years Old
Interaction – At Grandparents Home 5pm
Watson also greeted us at the door. He recently had a large cyst removed from his neck this didn't alter his docile obedient behaviour. Just as well natured as his brother he too is whisked around the Aged Care Home to see all the residents and receive hours of pats and cuddles.
